Stylist Caroline Sieber married financier Fritz von Westenholz earlier this summer, and the occasion was so star-studded and utterly fabulous that none other than Vogue magazine deemed it the “wedding of the year”.
Now, because the bride is not only a stylist by profession but also a member of what can only be called the fashion/social world elite, she surely had her pick of the most incredible couture dresses imaginable. And what did she ultimately choose for her big day? Chanel Haute Couture.
The bride clearly has impeccable taste, so we decided to take notes. What makes a summer wedding in the city superb? A few observations:
Focus on flowers: When a wedding takes place in an urban environment, giving extra emphasis to floral arrangements is essential. Bring a bit of the countryside into a city setting and the effect is powerful, and delightful.
Local Interest: Explore the identity of your location, and make it a playful element of the celebration for your guests. Caroline and Fritz’ rehearsal dinner took place at a traditional Viennese tavern and guest were asked to dress in dirndls and lederhosen!
Don’t be afraid to defy convention: Though the wedding was traditional in many ways, it’s apparent that Caroline wasn’t afraid to make stylish and unconventional choices. Her dress itself was pale blue grey rather than the traditional white, and one look at her inspiration board shows that her eye is quite unique. In cities, which are centers of innovation, one doesn’t have to play by the rules.
