Grace Kelly, the Hollywood starlet turned European royal, will always be remembered as effortlessly elegant.
For her wedding day, she was a vision in white, wearing a gown that will go down in history as one of the most memorable bridal gowns of all time.
Princess Grace’s wedding dress was the perfect transition from big screen star to reigning royalty.
Princess Grace’s gown was designed by Helen Rose from MGM’s costume department. The gown had a very intricate construction. The lace bodice was attached to an underbodice, a ruffled skirt support and a slip. A three layered skirt was put over the slip and a separate pleated taffeta cummerbund brought the top and skirt together. The high neckline and long sleeve lace bodice will forever be iconic.
We keep a framed picture of Princess Grace in her wedding gown on the showroom wall as inspiration for how we want our brides to feel when they leave the showroom, like royalty.
We’re not the only ones who are entranced by Princess Grace’s timeless bridal look. There are a number of designers who pulled inspiration from Princess Grace’s bridal look and sent gorgeous gowns down the runway for Spring 2014.
