5 of Our Favorite “Something Old” Wedding Ideas

Something old, something new, something borrowed…

We love the traditions of the wedding day and the many different ways couples can incorporate those traditions into their special day.

Finding your something new is easy enough, but the something old can be tricky as bridal styles and trends change and things from the past can sometimes feel outdated.

Here are 5 of our favorite “Something Old” wedding ideas.

1. Jewels from the past

Vintage brooches can be a stunning and old addition to your wedding accessories. Whether from your grandmother’s jewelry box or an antique market – this wedding accessory can add some sparkle to your wedding dress and can become a family heirloom for years to come.

We found this Victorian diamond and pearl brooch on one of our antiquing trips, which would be stunning pinned to a bridal gown.

2. Vintage Veils

A true “something old” is to reach back into the past and wear part of your mother’s wedding day ensemble. Bridal hair accessories are a gorgeous way to wear something from mom.

One of our brides is taking her mother’s veil from the 1970s and adding her own modern details. She was having the veil customized by adding a crystal headband to the top for an updated touch.

3. Old Stones

One way to add something old to your wedding day is by resetting an old stone into a new band and making it a part of your wedding jewelry. Often times the new couple may receive an old engagement ring from a family member, but the ring may not be right for the new bride. Those old stones can be re-imagined into a new setting for a wedding band or engagement ring more suitable to the bride.

One of our brides was given this sapphire ring from her mother-in-law and wants to create her wedding band from the stones.

4. Classic Cars

Such a cool way to incorporate your something old would be to arrive in style in a classic car.  On your wedding day, pull up to your venue in a classic car instead of a limo or town car. A vintage ride could be just the the perfect touch of something old that your wedding needs.

5. Vintage inspired Accessories

Maybe your “something old” is more  aesthetically old then actually old in years. Adding some vintage inspiration to your bridal style can give you the something old look and feel. Pearl bridal Jewelry with retro details is a nice way to bring something old to your wedding day look.
